Division Six (jonokuchi division) the new blood vive for the points they need.

There are six divisions in sumo rankings highest is makuuchi (42 wrestlers), jūryō (28 wrestlers), makushita (120 wrestlers), sandanme (200 wrestlers), jonidan (around 185 wrestlers), and jonokuchi (around 40 wrestlers).

Every sumo wrestler start at the lowest jonokuchi division and try to earn points to move up.

In 1958 they started having six Grand Sumo tournaments each year: three at The Sumo Hall (or Ryōgoku Kokugikan) in Ryōgoku, Tokyo (January, May, and September), and one each in Osaka (March), Nagoya (July) and Fukuoka (November).

Each tournament begins on a Sunday and runs for 15 days, ending also on a Sunday.

Each wrestler in the top two divisions (known as sekitori) has one match per day, while the lower ranked wrestlers compete in seven bouts, about one every two days.

And you can’t forget the merchandise.
