Komainu, often called lion-dogs in English, are statue pairs
of lion creatures either guarding the entrance or the inner shrine of many
Japanese Shinto shrines or inside the inner shrine itself.
These Komainu are very detailed and I like how the eyes are
done.

The waterways are well designed to hold a lot of water over
flow.
|
The Komainu is on guard for evil spirts, protecting the shrine.
|
Again more cool water features such as the gutters are like
cups that the water trickles down to the gutters.
