Have you ever seen something so old as the Nanzenji Temple?

Nanzen-ji is a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto. Founded by Emperor Kameyama in 1291 on the site of his previous detached palace. It is also the headquarters of the Nanzen-ji branch of Rinzai Zen. The precincts of Nanzen-ji are a nationally designated Historic Site and the Hōjō gardens a Place of Scenic Beauty.

A distinctive two-story entrance gate sanmon and aqueduct nothing like it so far.

The main building of Nanzenji Temple a large old beautiful structure.

At a smaller shrine they burn wood and incense to purify.

To wish upon a shrine.

The bottom of the aqueduct truly a marvelous structure.
